Give me and example #1

We had the mother of all breakdowns last night, I brought up things that were bothering me and she proceeded to let me know they were all my fault. If i couldn't provide specific instances of behavior, "How could she change?". The main points of contention:
1. She doesn't trust my knowledge of things.
2. When i go out with friends she's mopey and pissy when i leave.
3. She's never in the wrong and rarely apologizes.
4. I'm never "in the mood" during the 3hours on Sunday between noon and three when she's "in the mood".
5. She makes needling comments about things i haven't done/completed or done well. Just say what is bothering you "The tub is dirty."

From here on out i plan on keeping a daily log of goings on, hopefully figuring out that one of us is crazy.

No Dice

Went to the Seattle Car show this weekend...mostly a waste. The engineering on the Masserati, Bently and Rolls were fabulous, however the main reason for going was thwarted. There was no Tiguan and no resolution on the status of the Subaru Diesel. Ah well what do you expect? Didn't find a vehicle to fit my parameters either:
1. >32mpg
2. AWD

Does it seem like too much to ask for?

Birthdays what's the big deal?

Why do people make such a big deal about birthdays? Is it the corporate commercialism of getting presents and gifts? Is it to let your ego balloon to large proportions 1 day a year, it's all about me, I'm Mr Important? To me it's just another frickin day in my existence, it signifies nothing to me, maybe to my parents it means more but not to me. And why the special importance of round numbers, why is 30 more important than 31 or 29. Nothing really different happens, regardless of the age of the individual past the age of 21. I guess i'm just pissed i haven't had any time to/for myself for many months now. I'd like to get away and just tromp through the gullys and fields, but I can't do that. I can't go where i want, when i want anymore, not for the last 3 years anyway. I feel somewhat trapped in that i have to plan out my existence way to many moons in advance. I keep asking, "What do you want to do for your b-day", no response. My sentiments exactly.

Jacob

A good friend died today. His intelligent conversation regarding the Middle East, food, books, bbq, and the south will be missed. As will his amazing work ethic, intelligence and devotion. I can't say i fully understand this yet, his sudden illness after wisdom teeth extraction came very quickly. His absence will be sorely missed by all who knew him well. It's a sad day I will never forget as he's the first so close to me to die, and to die so young is a tragedy.

Damn VW

What is wrong with VW? Why has it taken them 3 years and counting to get their TDI back int he US marketplace? I'm set to replace my 97 Subaru Legacy in the next year or so and hope to have the TDI Tiguan available for purchase. It's the only vehicle I know of even close to the specs i'm looking for. >30MPG, AWD, ground clearance(only needed occasionally). It's amazing i can't find 3 thing i want all in the same car.....Maybe i should go get an old AMC Eagle and toss a TDI engine under the hood. What about those kids in Philly who put together a hybrid car with a TDI and got 50mpg and 4sec 0-60! Why can't some car maker with tons of engineers and resources do this? Seems like the big manufacturers are out of touch with the American public or maybe it's just me!

Dinner with the Pegs #83

Went to dinner last night with the neighbors across the street, affectionately known as the Pegs although there last name is Olson(more on this later). We tried to get into the Kingfish Cafe but the wait was 40mins for us and they had 2 open tables....oh well. Instead we drove down Madison towards Madison Park and happened upon Voila. Great little french bistro with good prices. Food was good, service sucked, house red wine was nasty(maybe corked)? Would go back if service improves. As far as i can calculate this is the 83rd Wednesday night dinner with the Pegs.
